Pulmonology

Pulmonology deals with diagnosing and treating disorders and diseases involving the respiratory tract, such as the nasal passage, sinuses, pharynx, vocal cords, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, lungs, alveolar ducts, alveolar sacs and alveoli. At our Clinic, the diagnosis of Pulmonology problems is performed with a physical examination and gathering of medical history. It is followed by:

Blood tests – A blood sample is examined to check for blood platelet counts, oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, and cancer cells.

Spirometry – This test determines the volume and speed of airflow inhaled or exhaled by your lungs. You will be asked to take a deep breath and exhale into the device, which then displays the volume and rate of airflow, thus throwing light on any abnormalities or obstructions.

    Bronchoscopy – A bronchoscope is used to review the inside of the airways and lungs for any potential obstructions or abnormalities.

    Image tests – Tests such as Chest X- rays or CT scans are used to identify possible structural abnormalities of the respiratory system.
